Scriptures Alone! Grace Alone! Christ Alone!

God never “tries”; God does! Some speak of some other god who “wants” to save, some other jesus who is “trying” to save, yet he is frustrated by the sinner. They say their god has no hands but the sinner’s hands and no feet but the sinner’s feet. That is not the God of the Bible! But the God of the Bible does describe such men and their god, “They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble” (Isaiah 46:7). Those saved by the sovereign and free grace of the one true and living God declare “Our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased” (Psalm 115:3).

God’s church does not beg for handouts or pressure folks into giving or ask everyone to gang up on God in prayer to get him to provide for us. If God is in the work he will provide without a cheer leader. But if God is not in the work, when it does not come to pass, our public begging would have only made those around us think our God is a failure. Therefore, we pray in secret, ask God’s will be done on the matter, with contentment of knowing his will shall be done.

The gospel is good news because it is the truth of how notably guilty sinners go free because a Substitute died in their place. If you ever find yourself to be the sinner on God’s death row then you will no longer kick against God’s free grace but go out with rejoicing.

God the Son taking human flesh formed in the womb of the virgin declares Christ has come in the power of the most High God. Likewise, Christ’s power and authority was manifest by the way he spoke the gospel (John 7:46). Every miracle the Lord Jesus worked declared he is God come in human flesh (Matthew 11:2-6). The work of redemption which he finished declares his power and authority as the end of the law, the righteousness of all who believe (Matthew 27:51). Christ’s resurrection from the dead declares He is the Son of God in whom God is satisfied with his people (Romans 1:4). Now, believers wait for the day when Christ shall come again to receive his own to Himself, and none shall be lost (John 10:28-29).
